According to The Economist, franchises (特许经营权) are one driver of this trend, as studios want to make the most out of their costly intellectual property (知识产权). The hope is that a great, longer film will draw audiences away from streaming platforms and into cinemas. Otherwise, streaming platforms, which do not have to worry as much about keeping things short and sweet because viewers can pause (暂停) at will, may lure (诱惑) the big names away, noted Vanity Fair.
